• Runner Feeder Detection System: This system detects the presence of all runners before they are loaded into the jig. If no runner is present, the machine automatically stops. This feature improves quality, reduces downtime, and improves operator safety. It includes independent controls for each runner feeder to turn the system on or off, and a visual alarm that lets the operators know a runner is missing and which runner feeder it is. 
• Runner Feeder Markers: Each runner feeder includes an easy-to-see marker and ruler that shows the specific location of the runner feeder. This feature allows operators to adjust the machine even faster using our standard width adjustment system.  
• Pallet Stacker Markers: The pallet stacker now includes an easy-to-see marker and ruler that shows the specific location of the stacker’s critical components, such as the forks and guides. This feature allows operators to adjust the stacker quickly and accurately, plus reduces the risk of the stacker forks not being properly aligned. 
• Updated Controls & Hydraulics: Our new hydraulic manifold and controls provide more reliable operation, and allow the gantry to run even smoother than before.

Woodpecker Models: 

• 60” L x 60” W (pallets up to 60″ x 60″)
• 84” L x 64” W (pallets up to 84″ x 70″)

• 96″ pallet width is available as an option.
• All machines include four stringers as standard, with the option to add a fifth stringer to all machines or a sixth stringer for the 96″ wide machines.

• Production varies with pallet configuration, operator numbers, operator work ethic, and lumber quality. 
• 60″ x 60″ and 84″ x 64″ models can be operated with 2 or 3 operators.  
• Typical production rates for 60″ x 60″ and 84″ x 64″ models when building standard GMA pallets:
  • 60″ x 60″, 2 operators: 1,000
  • 60″ x 60″, 3 operators: 1,200
  • 84″ x 64″, 2 operators: 900
  • 84″ x 64″, 3 operators: 1,100
• 108″ and 126″ machines are best operated with 3 operators.
• 108″ and 126″ machines include our short cycle feature, which allows these large machines to build small pallets, such as GMA style pallets, at a high rate of speed.

Lumber Types

• The Woodpecker is flexible and works well with many types of lumber. 
•  Softwoods & Hardwoods.
• #1 and #2 grade lumber.
• Reclaimed lumber:
  • Reclaimed deck boards are a great fit for the Woodpecker. We recommend the lumber be sorted prior to getting to the nailing machine.
  • Reclaimed runners are not recommended unless they are well sorted and free of nail stubble. 

Nails and Nail Guns

• All of our nailing machines utilize pneumatic nail guns and 15-degree high-load/large coil nails. 
• Typical nail sizes range from 1-3/4″ to 3″, and diameters between .099 to .131, application-dependent. 
• If you have experience with bulk nails and hydraulic nailing systems, but not with pneumatic nail guns and coil nails, please contact us to learn more. 

Custom Sizes and Solutions

• We can modify the Woodpecker to build several different specifications.
• Our standard machines are capable of building several different specifications out of the gate.
• From 2-runner pallets that are 120″ x 24″, to 6-runner pallets that are 120″ x 96″ with a solid top deck, to pallets that are much smaller. 
• 4″ x 4″ runners with modification.
• 2″ x 4″ deck boards with modification.
