Custom Nailing Machines for Specialized Applications

At Midwest Machinery & Automation, we specialize in more than standard equipment—we represent manufacturers with the capability to design and build custom wood-to-wood fastening machines tailored to your exact needs.

Whether you require a machine to produce 150” long skids, a system designed for fastening OSB strips, or something entirely unique, our team has the experience and innovation to create a solution that fits your operation.

We use our extensive experience in the pallet and construction industries to create unique solutions. We make every effort to use existing platforms to reduce costs and ensure our solution works like it should. We have resources that allow us to think outside the box, and we always build with the operator in mind.

Every project begins with a conversation. Call or email us today to discuss your application, and let us design a custom nailing machine that works for you.

Bundle Block Machine

The “Bundle Block” machine fastens two pieces of wood together to form a component for shipping. With two operators, this machine is capable of producing up to 20 pieces per minute and can be adjusted to accommodate different combinations of lumber.

Typically, this machine is used to fasten 2″ x 4″ blocks together, but other sizes are possible. The blocks don’t have to be the same size, and they can include things such as notches, chamfer cuts, etc.

The Ladder Nailing Machine

The “Ladder Machine” machine fastens up to 4 pieces of wood to form shipping components. With two operators, this machine is capable of producing up to 30 parts per minute and can be adjusted to accommodate different combinations of lumber, nailing patterns, and part combinations.

This machine is typically used to build sub-components that are later added to a pallet or crate. The machine can also be used to build small sub-components for the construction industry.

Oversized Skid Machine

The oversized skid machine was built to build a single-face skid that is 150″ L x 47″ W, with a 7″ wing. The machine was built on our trusted Master Recycler platform. The runners and deck boards are manually loaded in this machine, which allows for one or two operators, plus the flexibility to build other skids.

While it doesn’t build fast, it does build well, while reducing your overall labor cost, operator fatigue, and chance of injury.

The Parts Hawk

The “Parts Hawk” is designed for two operators and quick assembly. This machine indexes and nails 5 pieces of 7/16″ OSB from both sides. The machine can run 36″ to 96″ material with its extendable outfeed pushout.

This customer was putting their OSB drops in the landfill, and with this machine, they are now able to reclaim them and resell them.

This machine is also popular for MDF and similar materials.

Parts Hawk, 49" Machine

This Parts Hawk machine is indexing and nailing 4 to 5 pieces of MDF material from both sides. The lengths range from 49″ to 81″, and the width and height is always around 3″ x 3″. The thickness of each individual piece may vary, but that’s no issue for the Parts Hawk.

This customer uses the finished product as runners for pallets, or blocks for other shipping purposes. The MDF material was considered waste before it was repurposed.

OSB can also be nailed.

Variable Speed Stacker

Our variable speed stacker is built on the same platform as the Woodpecker Junior and Master Recycler stacker. The maximum pallet size is up to 60″ x 60″, and as small as 24″ x 26″.

This custom stacker was built for pallet sorting. The infeed chain speed runs fast to quickly bring in the pallet, and then the lift table quickly lifts the pallet and quickly returns to be ready for the next pallet. When the stack ejects, the chains shift to a slower speed to safely remove the stack from the stack. Once the stack is out of the stacker, the infeed chains go back to high-speed.
